There's somethin' about you and I

Still trucking around in eating healthily and trying to get workouts in~

Worked out to a video again today and then practiced the dance for Telephone

Things are getting pretty repetitive lately. Same types of food and routine. Time to switch it up~
I don't wanna relapse and just stop what I'm doing, so I really need to keep it up by switching it up. I need lots of new things to experience to keep my head in check and body in check. Any tips?

Halloween stuff comes out so early and I'm already trying to think of a costume. I was already Gaga last year. Could I be her again? Or will I be teased by my friends, haha.

Enough babble~

I ate a yummy breakfast of Lite Waffles and peanut butter with a tangerine!
Time to do homework, and then eat lunch, and get ready for working. Work has been interesting lately. I'm not doing so hot, maybe I'm not a saleswoman, or maybe other things have to do with my performance. I can't wait for next month. I must be cryptic just in case~

I do want to stay at Lenscrafters until I've worked there a year, so I can get free sunglasses up to $500 dollars. If I at least work there once or twice a week with a second job, it might be doable. But I would love to be a server again and get tips.

I'm sick of being poor. Being poor makes buying healthy extremely difficult, and I don't wanna have to rely on them for everything :(

Ok. Homework. Now!

Top of the morning!

Good morning!

This is what was for breakfast!!

Photobucket

Egg white omelette with green peppers and onions topped with tomatoes and a clementine tangerine on the side! Yum!
At a total of 186 calories with a glass of 1% milk!
I'm good and full and ready for the day! Working working working!
Working for the money, as well as working on my body~
And let us not forget homework!

Here are some tips and tricks I've figure out over the week!

1. You can eat out!
Just do your homework first, or think about the ingredients. Some restaurants have items that tell you how many calories they actually cost. I went to Ihop and Crispers yesterday and didn't go over my calorie line! It can be done!

2. Figure out your favorite fruits and veggies
This is crucial because they can be your go to snack! I really got into snacking on carrots, sliced green peppers, and most fruits. My roommate's chips keep beckoning me, but I haven't succumbed!

3. Figuring out where 'satisfied' is
This is a toughy at first I think. I didn't know if I was satisfied or not. Because I would wanna keep eating because it tasted so good. BUT figuring out exactly when my hunger was satiated kept me on my toes. You gotta stop somewhere. This helps with the smaller portions trick. And if I'm not full after a well balanced, nicely portioned meal, I fill the rest up on water!

I worked with the tips I found online and worked them into my mindset and experience. It may be different case by case, but the trick is to making a healthy lifestyle our own.

Well, I've gotta clean up then go to work!

A whole new look!

So as part of my getting myself incentive to lose the pounds and inches, I dyed my hair!

Therefor, once I've reached my goal weight, I will get my hair professionally done blonde again in lieu of my Gaga thinspiration.

This is my hair now:

Very very red! Used to be very very blonde!
It's fun rocking a new look though! And people tell me it's more slimming for me to have dark hair! BUT I want to be skinny enough to rock the blonde again!

AND
Low and behold after the last post, info on official Lady Gaga halloween costumes came out!
And ta-da~

Something else to work for! I really wanna do this look.
I'm really motivated to do well and am excited for the future!

Gonna bust myself in after work with a good workout. Didn't have one yesterday to give my body a break and had my first day of class! Back on track tonight and actually my good friend offered to be my personal trainer on the weekends! Woohoo!

Alright, time to head over to work.

Cherry Cherry Boom Boom

Today has been a good one!

Lots of tasty/healthy food and a good workout! AND a good day at work! I'm having a good day and really wish all days could be the same.

Yesterday was a good one too, but I didn't do a full fledged workout, just did some arm stuff and abs stuff. Still ate great and kept up with the water intake. I'm actually feeling good about all of this and proud of myself so far! So far I've been following all of my own rules and sticking to plan!

The rules are as follows!

-No soda
-No fast food
-No alcohol
-No red meat
-No whining

I used to drink soda like nobody's business. Good Lord I'm hoping this is one of the keys! I've heard about people losing weight because they cut out soda from their diet and hoping I see the same effects!

For a while I've wanted a swimsuit in the same cut as this:

Perhaps in a few months I can actually pull it off!

I will if I keep at it. Today has really put my spirits up. I got through a 30 minute intense elliptical workout and sweat like a pig today. I trudged on through it and going the distance really put my spirits up!

I don't wanna give up! Don't let me!

If anybody's watching, tell me, what are your tips and tricks to making time to work out. And does anyone know if I should refrain from sit ups until I've lost a little? I need some real time tips, not fake ads about scary pills and stuff.

Enough about today! Time to switch things up tonight.

Baby loves to dance in the dark...

It's settled then!

Video workout tonight~

Jogging tomorrow~

And some dancing in the dark inbetween.
I'm going to dance in the dark until I'm confident to dance in the light.

Cuz when others are looking I fall apart...
Not anymore!

Mackin' and Snackin'!

True day two of dieting~
I'm finding it hard to meet my daily calorie needs.
I'm only at 675 calories as of now and I'm supposed to be anywhere between 1411 and 1911! Still gonna have a snack and dinner.

Today so far I've had

Breakfast: Two whole wheat slices of toast with whipped cream cheese and a half of a grapefruit

Snack 1: Fruit cup (with blueberries, strawberries, grapes, pineapple, cantelope, hondeydew)

Lunch: Panera's You Pick 2 with 1/2 Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich and Black Bean Soup

Snack # 2 is pending as is Dindin!

Based on timing and everything I'm going to have to eat dinner late however :/
My plan is to stay up afterward and exercise tonight instead of resting and sleeping directly after. Or possibly just take a break from the heavy workouts today and do some tummy and arm stuff. I have an exercise ball and light weights to work with! And tomorrow morning should be jogging time!

I made my tummy happy! Actually went to Panera today and got that sandwich I was harping on about in my last post! :) On the other side of town at school and relaxing at a friend's. Was going to go to the school gym but unable to get stuff together in time before leaving on time. Still I plan to get some exercise on!

Possibly practice dancing again~

I actually have most of Bad Romance down. I had learned some of it months ago but actually got back to it and focused on learning some more of it~! Dancing and working out to something I'm into really makes it all that more enjoyable. I need to figure out more tips and tricks to enjoying my exercise. I'd essentially love to have a bike again and bike to work whenever possible, but I'm not able to afford a bike, so hopefully I can get one cheap somewhere or something.

In clothing news, I was unaware until now that the style that I'm digging the most is called "Mori Girl" style or "Forest girl"
It meshes pretentious and whimsical feels with a neutral and calming palette.
Luckily for me right now, it's really quite an "oversized" look with flowing big sized garments rather than tight fitted.

Here's some examples:

Is that a hairbow I see?!?!?!?

Something like a whimsical hobo woman...
Some of these looks I love, and some are just too much. I like a lot of the more flowy looks with chiffon and florals rather than that of the heavy feeling outfits. All of it seems very comfy!
Something girls of all shapes and sizes can wear.

I'm gonna start following this blog:
http://morigirl.blogspot.com/

I actually found that one of my items of clothing a friend from Japan gave me is from a Mori Girl brand! Woohoo! No wonder I like it so much!

Alright. Off I go!

One step at a time.

I started gung-ho this morning. Got up at 7:50 for a 30 minute walk/jog around my neighborhood first thing before work. Afterwards I grabbed breakfast of oatmeal! Yum!

I nearly hit the snooze button on my alarm but I pushed myself out of bed and into my sneakers. Luckily the Florida heat was giving me a break this morning. It was actually nice out there! I pushed through it, I need to get used to jogging, but I'll take one step at a time.

To determine what I'm going to eat and how I'm going to exercise, I used the Basal Metabolic Rate calculator. It basically tells me what calories I burn based on my weight, height, and age. It calculates what I burn when doing nothing.

The equation looks like so:

BMR= 655 + (4.38 x Weight) + (4.7 x Height in Inches) - (4.7 x Age)

So mine looks like so
BMR = (4.38 x 165) + (4.7 x 63) - (4.7 x 24)
= 1556.05

To determine your total daily calorie needs, multiply your BMR by the appropriate activity factor, as follows:

If you are sedentary (little or no exercise) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.2

If you are lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.375

If you are moderatetely active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.55

If you are very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.725

If you are extra active (very hard exercise/sports & physical job or 2x training) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.9

So if I go with my plan of working out 3 to 5 times a week my BMR turns out to be 2411. 87

To safely lose, I will have to eat 500 to 1000 calories less than I burn a day. so somewhere around 1911.87 to 1411.87

I am hand writing my calorie intake as well as using this website:
http://caloriecount.about.com
It is convenient because you can look up certain items and find out exactly the calories you've consumed and lost based on the food or activity. Even sleeping and sitting!

As well as exercising I'm planning on working to learn some of Gaga's dances! Gonna enjoy myself while i get rid of unwanted weight! Planning to work on them when all roomies are out of the house haha. I'm so embarassed about things like this.

This girl's tutorials are very in depth and well done! I love her charisma! If anyone else is interested, here she is teaching Bad Romance

She's some thinspiration in herself! If only I had become obsessed with dancing! Well here's my chance! My other goal right now to to learn the dances for Bad Romance, Telephone, and Alejandro.

I have a dress I'm in love with right now!

This dress is from one of my favorite Japanese brands, Liz Lisa. Too cute for words! I love the mix of bohemian and floral prints. I'm obsessed with this look right now!

And how about a sandwich you don't have to feel guilty about??

My favorite item at Panera! The Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich! At only 300 cals, I'm excited that I can still eat this lovely thing when I want to!
And add their Black Bean Soup for just another 160 and that's a meal for 460 calories! Nice!

So, if I happen to gain any followers.... People! I'm drinking Tea like a madwoman! What's your favorite tea?

The Beginning

I'm starting on my path to more healthy living. I want to live long and prosper, as well as feel comfortable in my skin.

Before I start off I will introduce exactly who I am.

My Name is Jenn L. I'm not going to get too personal on here and keep kind of private to a certain point. I'm 24 years old, living in Florida. Having grown up here I'm kind of sick of the place to be honest. I want a change of scenery for the rest of my life. Once I get myself in order I plan to move out of this state for good. Only to return to visit friends and family. I'm quite the obsessive person and find myself getting obsessed with whatever I'm into at the moment. I've been obsessed with everything from the Powerpuff Girls to Japanese Music.

Right now at the height of my obsession is none other than Lady Gaga.
Combining the aspects of music, art, and fashion all in one package really attracted me and I've jumped into this obsession headfirst. Dressing up and listening to her far too often, I've spent a lot of time talking about her to everyone I know and indulging myself in any performance I can get the chance of viewing.

Finally I have the chance to see her live next year and have found this to be inspiration to thin up and get fit and healthy looking for the show.
I want to dress fabulous there. Fabulous there, and in my everyday life.
Being drawn to fashion that I cannot even wear is such a drag down on my self-esteem that I want to step in and make changes in myself.

Me as Gaga for my Gaga-Themed Birthday Party!
You can really see my body here. So this will be your imagery for how my body looks currently with something this tight.

Taking the healthy approach is my goal. I want to do it right, set an example.

My current weight is 165
My goal weight by April 13th 2011 will be 140
At 24 that is totally doable in that amount of time!

Today's inspiration will be the dress of the day!

This purple floral dress from Charlotte Russe is gorgeous, but strapless. I cannot wear strapless anything. The fit just doesn't work for my body right now. I want to feel confident showing off my shoulders and arms!

Next time I will go into more depth into what my plan is and what my diet will consist of!
